We are happy to announce that in September 2014 we started with project titled “Two cultures – one kindergarden”, which is financed by EEA grants. The project will last until April 2016. Our activities are realised within broad partnership with: Angelus Silesius, Family Poznan Foundation, Julian Tuwim’s Kindergarden no. 89, Association of Assistants for Roma Education, Queen Maud Univeristy from Norway. The aim of the project is creating model for integration of Roma children in kindergardens and undertaking anti-discrimination actions. The activities will be conducted in Wrocław and Kamienna Góra from September 2014 until April 2016. We are planning to prepare the kindergardens gradually, so the Roma kids would feel safe and could find some part of their culture in those walls. Simultaneously, we will encourage Roma parents to acknowledge the value of pre-school education and to take part in recruitment process to these facilities. The teaching staff will be prepared through series of trainings, parents will be invited for meetings on which they will get acquainted with Roma culture and each kindergarden will have assistant for Roma education hired. In the nearest future we are planning a study visit in Norway, during which our Norwegian partner will tell us about pre-school integration of Travellers – group very similar to Romas. Our participants will spend one day in school and kindergarden where Travellers’ kids are already attending classes. Moreover, visit to the Travellers museum in the town of Elverum is planned and meeting with the community as well. Thanks to the face-to-face contact our participants will get to know how the integration process looked like. The visit is planned to take place from 9th until 12th November 2014. Feel free to follow the information about the project on the website.
