Strategic mentoring in Czech Republic

Between 8th and 15th February 2016 we took part in „Strategic Mentoring” Contact –Making Seminar in very cosy town of Hradec Kralove in Czech Republic. This project was a first part of long-term cooperation, which aims at empowering European Voluntary Service mentors with tools to evaluate the learning process of a volunteer. Together with representatives of 10 other countries we discussed the role of the mentor, how should the cooperation with the organization look like and how to motivate mentors to keep high quality of EVS project.

The result of exchange of our good practices and opinions, was creating the plan for mentor’s training that will take place in May in Armenia. “Most of us is used to long-distance work, email communication and treating skype as your secondary phone. However, meetings like that are way more effective, since we can get to know not only the organization, but also the people that we are about to cooperate with.

We can get to know them better, see how they work, how they behave and what makes them laugh – those are things that are equally important and cannot be solved with emails”, says our president who took part in the project. For most of the participants, the week spent in Czech Republic was a chance to plan future projects and exchange ideas for cooperation. We do believe, that those talks will be implemented and we will offer you more interesting projects.
